A7s - Recommendation for ND Filters

I use the Heliopan VarioNDs quite often.
I can't see any color-cast or softness - at least nothing that worries me. As I work alone most of the time and like small setups, that I can carry all day long, "real" NDs are not possible for me.
I'd need a small rig with mattebox and a pouch for the NDs.

I have been using the Fotodix Vizelex Vari ND for about a week and a half and it works great. I also use it as away to control aperture on my Canon lenses, I have not noticed any color shifting.

Philip Bloom tweeted once that it had "shockingly bad" reflections (or something like that) internally. Have you found it to be good? I saw somewhere that there's an improved version coming out soon as there was some sort of manufacturing error on the first - flange was .05 mm too close or something (can't remember.)

There is a new version, that's the one I just bought. So far I havent noticed any reflections, but I wasn't looking for them either. Lots of rain in my area lately, so I haven't had the chance to put the Vizelex or my newly acquired Defy G2 through its paces.

I jst got my Throttle ND but weather is s*%t here. Waitin for sun.

From what ive tested quickly I haven't really noticed anything yet about the reflections that bloom noticed. Same with color shift - havent noticed anything yet. I wish they had a nikon mount. GOing from nex to eos to eos to nikon. to many adapters.

Will test more in depth.

I literally just got my Vizelex throttle from B&H also, plus a Velio Leica R to Canon adapter which I'm gonna just leave on it, so I can just switch my R lenses.

Both parts are really well built. No play at all. The Vizelex vari-ND is very nicely dampened. Excellent first impression

I was also surprised about the Throttle build for 99 bucks. Its actually solid and turns smoothly.

Hopefully it will perform jst aswell.

I want to purchase two nd filters. Reading this clearly Hoya is the way to go. I was going to get 72mm to suit the 70200 and future 1635 and then step down to other lenses. Which two would be a good way to start out, I saw a recommendation for 2/4 and also 3/6. The main purpose will be shooting slog2 outdoors, probably not wide open though. On b&h there are the prond16 and prond4 (ie 2/4 stop) and these are $120 each. Are these the ones to invest in? Thanks guys

Anyone have experience with Schneider True-Match Vari-ND?
It is supposedly have no colour cast at all as well as being a 10 stop ND.

Don't you guys have flaring issues with these NDs? I get it with anything I try especially with variable NDs and when stacking NDs. You pay a whole bunch of money for lenses with T* coating and what not only to throw a piece of glass infront of it which flares up.

Do Hoya ProNDs handle flaring better?
