a7s Picture Profile Compilation 2015

Do you guys also feel like the A7s makes everything a little too green? Shot a multicam sequence today with two Canons and the A7s. Same whitebalance (kelvin) but the canons just look far more pleasing and real colorwise. Is there a picture profile that gets rid of that greenish cast?

Did you add an ND filter on the A7s?

no, didnt use any filters. This is a well known problem, some call it a yellowish cast. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried matching colors with Canons.

I'm not sure about the greenish cast, but if you look at the profile I submitted I made some pretty heavy adjustments to the color depths. I'm not a tech, but to my eye this profile is as accurate as one can get, and skin tones if anything shift ever so slightly magenta. For a little while I was shooting the A7S along side of a C100, and with this profile the A7S is far more accurate when analyzed across the spectrum.* I think many may consider the Canon image more "pleasing", but that's entirely subjective.

I will say that I'm not a huge fan of the white balance accuracy on the A7S. I own three bodies, and they're never an exact match, which is kind of annoying.

* One might be able to tweak a Canon to match or even do better, but I found their profile and color depth settings to be much more difficult to work with.

This is sweet. I'm hoping I can carve out some time this week to run through each profile on the same scene so we can see them all in action.

FYI - from my experience, Kholi's Cine2/Pic Pro 2 produces great images right out of the camera (skin tones look great), with just a slight bit of over saturation in some colors.

Yesterday I took some time and recorded myself indoors with all the profiles mentioned in the Google Docs spreadsheet. Anyone interested in the files? I have them zipped on Dropbox if anyone is interested to play around with those profiles.
thanks a lot Seja ! Yes it would be a great help to check these files ;)

Would it be the same if I use these A7s PP to my FS700? So the footage of A7s & FS700 can be graded with same grade.

Could you post screen grabs from each in this thread? It'd be support helpful to people searching in the future.

I've tried using fs700 pic profiles on the a7s and they looked like garbage. Frank Glencairn(the author behind some of the standard fs700 profiles) said that the a7s and the fs700 are different beasts.

So how do you solve the problem? Do you use different PP for each cameras? Which PP do you think the best for A7s and FS700? Thanks before.

I would get a color chart(I used a slate with the color strip on the clapper) and aim an a7s and an fs700 at it and tweak each camera until they match. It shouldn't be that complicated, but that's what I would do.

anybody knows the exact settings for "PP off"?
I like the natural color, skin tones when the Picture Profile is off, so i could easily add LUT's on it and it grades pretty flexibly.

I shot this little lookbook for Penfield over the weekend, also composed the music and colour graded the video too. Shot it on the A7s with the Autumn Leaves creative style and PP turned off. Graded with James Miller luts.

Any feedback is appreciated :)
