Coming this year is it?

The A7 models seem to have a 2yr life cycle. So given that the A7S was finally made available in May of 2014, we can expect May 2016 to be when it is available. So my guesss is announcement at NAB2016 and availability May 2016.

A7s first shipped in July. I agree with ectobuilder, probably announced at NAB 2016 and released next summer.

Announced:
A7 - Oct 2013
A7R - Oct 2013
A7S - Apr 2014
A7II - Nov 2014
A7RII - Jun 2015

So who knows, maybe they'll announce it soon... Makes sense to me.

I first got my hands on one in late May of 2014 though (in Canada). I think the stock levels didn't normalize until July of that year.

There's a rumor that the successor will get a new body, so R&D will probably take a little longer i guess (?)

Damn I can't remember now. Got mine in the first U.S. shipment.

Sony Alpha Rumors thinks - with no rumor rating given - that there'll be an A99II and then A7sII before the end of the year. IMO, Sony might as well make one camera - let's call it A99s - with two different lens mountings (A and E) and a smaller 1" sensor fixed lens camcorder to replace AX1 and Z100. Naturally, with me not being in their boardroom ...

The new body should speed up the release date because the new body supposedly is to dissipate heat better.
