I don't know how reliable is this site web,but i was wondering if someone knows or has some more info about this! nd filters would be very cool..here's the link to the site. On mirrorless Italian group on facebook are all excited and already talking about the new A7SIII as it is around the corner and ready to ship:undecided:shocked:.

From the rumors thread:

The one rumor was from a Japanese site, and some of the native Japanese-speaking users commented that the language on the site had grammatical errors and/or sounded strange...

We all think the a7 III generation must be just around the corner, but this particular rumor doesn't look too good.

Yes looks fake to me but it's a good reminder that an a7sii with internal variable ND and improved codecs and oversampling would be amazing.

I think the a7S III will have a 16-18 Mpix backlit FF sensor with PDAF and it will do one (and just one) of the following: either 4k at 60 fps, or same DR as the FS7 (i.e. full slog3, not clipping before white as in the a7S II).

Well, the a6500 has a setting that allows it to overheat and still go on shooting, until it reaches a point where it will start damaging itself and then it shuts down. With this enabled, Sony says it gets too hot to touch and you should use it on a tripod or a rig and avoid physical contact with the camera.

What I mean is: you may actually be onto something XD

Too hot to touch huh? Time to break out the gloves from the Tungsten kit.

Its kind of insane that Sony is releasing products like this. The lifespan of the product in shooting like this would be greatly reduced.

True, but the lifespan of a product is already greatly reduced these days. How many people actually keep shooting on their cameras for 5+ years? Or 4 years, or even 3? The fact that people here are talking about their hopes for a camera that doesn't even exist yet shows just how eager people are to move on to the next best thing. I guess Sony are banking on the fact that cameras are almost disposable these days and a lot of people are hooked on the upgrade cycle, which renders their old camera "obsolete" well before the hardware gives up.

Sony says this setting shuts down the camera before temperature is high enough to harm it. And yes, these days I'm going for a new camera every 18 months or so.

It's probably just rumours, but if it's true, the the specs are way too underwhelming to warrant an upgrade. The A7S II is a remarkable camera for it's price, and i can't see myself wanting to upgrade for at least a good 4 years, specially once I add an external recorder to it.

At this point in the game, i'd rather invest in XLR sound, lighting equipment, a cage and one more zoom lens before I think about another camera.

A little bit different to a $3000 mirrorless camera... but perhaps I should've been more specific about the context of my comments, which were referring to consumer cams.

Even at the high end though, RED are very good at keeping their customers on the treadmill with their upgrade cycles. And they only offer the upgrade prices to the owners of the more recent cameras/sensors, so there is incentive for people to always stay up to date and keep buying the upgrade lest they fall off the treadmill. I don't know many serious RED shooters who don't buy the upgrades every time, even if they have no need for it.

Personally I'm going on 4 years with my FS700 now and planning on adding a recorder soon (just waiting on reviews for the Inferno, which started shipping today), so it should easily see me through another year or two. My A7s, on the other hand...

I was semi-joking but ... the high end product will always remain more "functional" than an entry level one. By the time the high end life cycle is over, you actually lose more value but you get a higher grade performance along the way.

Then there are questions of the various plateaus. Alexa, with all its upgrades, is perfectly capable as an HD model, which will suffice for most parts of the globe for a long time to come. It shouldn't remain such a dominating force in the US TV business by 2017, however. But, unless its replacement from ARRI arrives by then, it still may.

BTW, the same is generally true with cars, computers, houses, etc. Buy a 10,000 ft sq mansion and you probably won't have to move for a while.

I don't think Sony are ever going to be that generous and give the world a tiny FS7mini even at least not for a while.

I'd happily trade DR for 10bit SLog3 onto XQD for B camera/gimball cam to my FS7 but I'm getting the impression Sony are keeping large sensor 10bit at the FS5 and above level for the time being. It'll come one day but only when the FS7 level cameras have moved on to >4K so probably another 2 generations away.

I don't see Sony holding back nowadays, but still, you could be right.

Even the fact that a7S II / a6300 don't fill the slog3 bucket may be a hardware limitation rather than a marketing decision: in RAW stills these cameras have the DR to fill slog3, but for video they must be switching to 12-bit ADC mode, instead of 14-bit, and that may be source of the loss of DR (comparing RAW stills in standard and continuous drive modes could show some light on this). If that is the case, there is a chance the next-gen a7S sensor is being designed with this in mind, and we may get the $4k mini-FS7 that I want. (it still won't compete much with the FS7 because of usability issues, but it would be the perfect B-cam, so I think there's an actual chance this will happen) (and anyway, if it doesn't happen on the III, it will happen on the IV: things are improving so fast nowadays...)
