A7rII and A7sII get a new firmware update, improved 4k

I've read can help when display is out, but who knows.

People kept saying that, but my tests found very little difference between display out and display against the body. Keeping the display out didn't let the camera record for 2½ hours either in S35 or FF.

"Quite how Sony are achieving this fix is unclear. It could be that they have simply decided that it is OK to run the sensor hotter and that their previous temperature limit was too conservative. Alternatively they have done something clever with the way the camera actually works – although this seems less likely. It will be interesting to see how much the noise from the sensor increases over an extended shooting period."

I have one of the early models, got it the day of release (from Texas Media Systems, shout out!), so far in mid 70's and low 80's temps here in humid Florida with no overheating after hitting the time limit and restarting two times, so about 1.5 hrs. I'm happy.

I've only had it shut down once outside of run tests, that was at about 27 or 28 minutes during an interview that just kept rambling even though I had what I needed in the first few minutes, I don't remember the exact time. But I didn't have the LCD extended - which is something I always do as the camera body is cooler to the touch with it extended. I pulled the LCD out, swapped batteries (since they generate a lot of heat), and kept recording more rambling with no issues. I need to get one of those groove infrared thermometers and check temps, now I'm curious if there's a difference.

On A7RII? S35 or FF?
