a6300 vs A7RII

Is a6300 ahead of A7RII in AF area? Is there a reason to sell A7RII for it?
How about low light? Are there on par (both in stills and video) or a6300 has an edge here?

I just watched the a6300 vs the A7s II and it beats it in AF and resolution in 4K UHD. I should be getting my a6300 from B&H tomorrow.

That's no surprise, a7sII is bad in AF area (not even when compared to a6300, just in general). But a7rII is a different beast

I think the only reason to keep an a7RII over the a6300 would actually be the obvious stuff. If you need IBIS, use Canon lenses, need Full Frame or are a high end Photographer. If you already have the a7RII and can't see parting with those things, then maybe it's worth keeping. And oh... Rolling Shutter of course.

I happened to already have all E-Mount APS-C glass. So it made no sense to keep the a7RII at that price. Luckily, i had just bought the a7RII when they announced the a6300 so i could return it in time.
So i got the a6300 AND Beholder DS-1 for half the price of an a7RII!

I have to say though, i enjoyed working with the a7RII much better. The body, the extra dials and buttons. IBIS. Would have loved to work with some of those Full Frame lenses down the line. Maybe someday.
But for now, for the price it's hard to justify keeping the a7RII only to shoot in crop mode for video anyway. That's just me.

Does anyone know how well image stabilized lenses help with the jello look of hand held shooting due to the rolling shutter? Thats the main factor making me debating selling the A7R I own and returning the A6300 to just get the A7R II for the IBIS

All I know is the more I use the a7rii the more I love it- from an operational stand point and the images it creates, both still and video. Just did a bunch of stills in Napa valley can extremely happy with it.
i am thinking of the 6300 as a B camera though instead of another A7 camera, that would make a lot of sense for the productions I shoot.
Interstingly, the more I shoot the more every camera I shoot with gets better. Funny how that works......

These questions are comical.. April fools?
What is so comical?

A7RII is recommended to shoot with crop mode for video, a6300 is aps-c (par)
A7RII is pixel to pixel in crop mode, a6300 calculated from 6k to 4k
A7RII slog2 only, a6300 both slog2 and 3
A7RII has got really good AF, a6300 is fastest in the Sony lineup

My biggest question is autofocus, is a6300 af able to compete with C300II or not yet?

A7RII is oversampling 4K from 15 MPX or ... ~ 5.2K. That's why it also has a pretty bad rolling shutter. So, the question is whether there's a benefit to 20 MPX vs. 15 if it costs you more rolling shutter. And the second question is whether you can live with rolling shutter as bad as it is on A6300. A7RII, you can, at least, go into a line-binning full frame mode. It drops the "real" resolution a bit but you avoid the worst of its RS. And the third question is whether this is worth two extra grand for you.

Calling someone else's questions "comical" is uncalled for and not how we do things here.

Thread has been cleaned up. Please don't continue in that vein.

^ That's how I see the bad RS problem: it forces you to switch to 1080p when your shot is going to have a lot of motion. Which is not a big deal because such shots will be mostly motion blur anyway, so you can cut them with 4K without any issues. The only real problem is that you can't put the fps setting on the quick menu, you have to dig into the standard -and awful- menu.

In a shot where rolling shutter is a problem, softness is not. In a shot where softness is a problem, rolling shutter is not.

I get what you are saying but any time you move this camera in 4k rs is a problem. To have to shoot in soft 1080 is hardly a great solution

Speaking of A7RII vs a6300, are there any comparisons between the 1080p 60fps modes on both cameras? This is the mode i shoot in often, and it's no secret the a6300 is a bit soft. Is the a7rII much sharper at 60fps? And i assume the a6300 1080p 120fps beats the a7rII at 720p 120fps...
