a6300 news

Has anyone had overheating issues when just shooting stills with the a6300? Considering this as a B-cam and to replace my 6D as my main stills cam. Was thinking a7s or r but I'm leaning toward investing more wisely on the video side. But would shoot photos and a wedding here and there so not sure if the a6300 would be up to par. For travel I'm sure it would be perfect.

I saw a few people on the facebook group report that they did get overheating after a while of shooting stills. Quality seems all over the place on these units...

I guess being a "consumer/still" camera that the chances of someone asking someone from Sony at NAB about the issues with this amazing but quirky camera are slim. Or at least getting an answer is slim.

So here is the mini doc I shot using the A6300 alongside the F3. F3 was all the B Roll and side interview shots at 85mm and the A6300 was the front interview camera. I will be shooting a live show of their band to add footage to the video (will use the a6300 for that) but we wanted to get the video out now for them to help promote their up coming tour.

Also looking into either getting the Canon 24-105mm F4 with speedbooster or Sony 18-105mm F4 (now that it has an update for the lens so the manual focus is actually useable and not as much focus by wire feeling) for the A6300 as I will be bringing it with one lens for my trip to Cannes next month.

in full sun (25 C) i have overheating in 12 min (4k rec) this is not ok..with the 6300 stem-buy i have this problem in 20 min..THIS IS THE PROBLEM

So I've been shooting with the A6300 a bit and the only time I have ran into overheating was on this shoot in a warehouse with no AC or air flow with a hot light running. Gave me issues at about 20 mins so I switched batteries, and got 12 more minutes before having to let it cool for a few minutes and switch batteries again. Gave my friends more time to think about the questions but on a professional shoot rather than a fun personal project with friends it would be embarrassing. I am also using it as one of are cameras this weekend shooting a convention so I will see if I have any more issues, or next month when I take it as my only camera to Cannes.

Sounds like shooting with a Canon 7D. It's annoying and embarrassing, even for small budget projects.

Yeah but it will still stay in my camera bag as a b/c cam in some cases plus the 120 fps. We will see how it does next month when I'm traveling as I'm only bringing the a6300 and probably just the 18-105mm f4.
