I noticed something odd when editing footage with the A1. It was shot in SD 24 (2:3:3:2) pulldown (I checked) and imported into Premiere 2.0 24p timeline. The footage was recognized as 23.976 but there were obvious interlacing throughout, as show from an exported frame.
I took the footage into After Effects and tell it to guess the pulldown, and it came up with WWWSW (which I believe is the correct one for 2:3:3:2 pulldown) and there is still interlacing. It is not until I select the WWWWS pulldown that the interlacing goes away.
Based on this I believe that Premiere was doing its job correctly and that the A1 is somehow applying different pulldown patterns. What's even more bizarre is that I just finished an entire short film (Versus, which I've posted on here) and if you look at that, there's no interlacing at all. Either I've accidentally changed some setting on the A1 or the camera is randomly applying pulldown patterns when it's recording.
I'll go and get some more test stuff today, but does anyone with more experience on the A1 have any idea what could be causing this? In HDV 24F mode this wouldn't be a problem but I regularly use SD 24p because it's easier to edit.
