A1/FCP 5.1.4 - Importing and Exporting...help?

Okay, this thread could have gone in the post production or in this section (A1) due to the nature of my problem, but can anyone help me import and export video? I'm shooting with a Canon XHA1 with a Letus Flip Enhanced adapter and when I try to manually set the import settings in FCP 5.1.4, I can't get it to import. Does anyone know what setting is correct for 24F, HD footage? My workaround so far is to set the settings to "automatic," but that somehow speeds up the footage and the audio is off. I can slow it down for now, but I'm doing a shoot tonight that REQUIRES synched audio, so I need some help. As far as exporting, has anyone found a good preset for exporting? Thanks so much.

Just use the HDV 1080 24p Easy Setup and have your A1 set to HDV playback and make sure that downconversion is turned off. (it will cause the cam to output the DV standard via firewire)

When you want to output to tape, just choose the Print to Video and FCP will conform the timeline (which may take some time to render depending on the amount of fx) and then output.
