A1 and Adobe frame rate problem - anyone?

For some strange reason, when I capture footage shot in the Canon XH A1 in 24F into Premiere CS3, it recognizes it as having 44.96fps.

The same thing happens if I import a file captured via HDLink, HDV-Split or Vegas - premiere thinks the footage has a 44.96 frame rate. I tried importing the m2t files into AE and got the same problem.

If I import the m2t files captured via Cineform (or other third-party capturing softwares) into Vegas, it displays and plays the files in the correct 23.976 fps.

Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

The first thing I would try is to ditch the preferences file and let Premiere generate a new one. Sometimes things get corrupted and that has been a culprit in the past.

I'm assuming that you have checked your project settings and made sure that you have created a 1080 x 1440 24f project using the Cineform preset?

If all else fails, I recommend uninstalling Premiere and reinstalling it which will almost guarantee to fix the problem.

Good luck.

That's the strange thing - is that it happens both in Premiere and in After Effects, and on two machines - my laptop and desktop versions of CS3...

Where is the pref file and how do I access it...?

Thanks

To access the Preferences file (in Windows) Go to C:/Documents and Settings/YOUR USER NAME

Then up top go to Tools > Folder Options > View > and selected View hidden files and folders.

One folder that will appear is "Application Data." Click it.

Go to Adobe > Premiere > And there'll be a file "Adobe Premiere (Version) Prefs."

Delete it.

Nothing gets ruined, but Premiere's settings go back to default.

That should help.

However, I'm not sure whether or not Premiere CS3 supports 24f...

P.S. The XH A1 has 16:9 chips right? So why load a 1440x1080 file?
