For many of us, Christmas won't start untill December 29th or later.
So what is going on at Panasonic? Can't they enlighten us a week before shipment, on how things are going?

How many are they shipping in the first order?
Will first orders be filled?
As of today, are they finished with the tuning process?

Other than B&H, EVS, and Specialized, who else would be making big orders?
It seems like the "lists" that are out there are only in the hundreds from these 3 guys, so a thousand unit order doesn't seem like a big deal (at 300 cameras a piece).
 
I am wondering the same thing. No one seems to know anything or if they do they are not talking. I am sure that Panasonic is going to be short on the initial order but by how much? Are dealers going to see only a couple each or could there be more? Rush said he hoped to get 25. I don;t know if that was based on something he heard from Panasonic or if it is just a hopeful guess. Any info would be great. I'd rather know now if I am getting it immediately or if I have to wait until later in January. The alternative is count the days til the 29th (or the first week of january) and only then find out if enough came in or not.

I imagine Birns and Sawyer and Abel Cine Tech probably have pretty big orders as well.

I thought that was the complete order and he was hoping for 25 in the first shipment. Or that was what the pre-order list was at. But I don't think 135 will be coming in initially.
 
Either way.. it's gonna ba an awsome sight. boxes upon boxes of HVXs! Hey Rush! .. please post us a picture of this!

That sucks. I am in the 180's. I wonder how long I am going to have to wait. Even if 60 people don't have the money on hand, that still only puts me in the 130s.

Rush, some more clarification please?
 
I'm number 72 with EVS and i've got my fingers crossed!

About a week ago or so Rush reconfirmed my preorder number
and mentioned at that time he did not know how may were
going to be sent in the initial order.

No worries. Rush has a very large initial order placed early on.

I'm sure Panasonic respects all their dealers. They want to be sure everyone gets a taste. But at the same time, I'm sure they are filling orders in the same manner that EVS is filling orders, by ordering date. " Early bird gets the.... " well, you know rest :)

I hear that the total shipment on Dec 29 will be 100 units for the United States. ONLY dealers who placed orders for 25 units or more will get ANY! Most dealers, no matter who they are will only get 1 or 2 units from the 29th shipment.

The question we should be asking is, when is the second shipment and how many will there be?????

more like: when is the fifth shipment coming in?

I hope that in the next week or so, we get a definitive word on how many will be shipped in January. I think it was said once that all pre-orders should be filled by the end of January, but I may be wrong.

Well, whatever. I misunderstood and thought that there was a small chance I would get one around the beginning of January, I just need to get out of that mindset.

Rush - How about January 15? :)

Hi Steve... I'm 43 on the list, signed up the second of August... I'm not optimistic for the first batch unless lots of folks in front of us don't cough up the dough.

As Ray says, what's the stats on the second batch, and when?

Coal in our socks unless a whole slew of folks are maxing out their credit cards on other purchases... :(

The pro dealer I used to buy from here in Cleveland said not to get my hopes up about getting a unit until March. Panasonic told him the backorder is huge.
 
I think that everyone who finds themselves far down on the list from one of these dealers should start thinking outside the box - no pun intended.
There are professional and broadcast dealers in almost every medium-large city in the U.S. - many of them have placed initial orders of 25 or more, and yet you never see anything about them here on these forums. I have been doing a little research on this, and I have discovered dealers with almost no pre-orders - they just fly under the radar and hope to be able to satisfy their local client base. That does not mean, however, that they would not be happy ot sell to any interested party that can pony up the cash.
I have been told by a local dealer that they expect to get one (1) camera in late December, and that they will likely get another 10 in January. Whether or not that actually happens - who can tell. But they only have 4 pre-orders.....
So, no disrespect to Rush at EVS, or Abel Cine, or Spec. Comm.....they will do their best, I am sure, to satisfy their long lists of prospective buyers. But there are other sources out there, if you are willing to do a little research to find them.

That may be so, but I'd like to know where you heard that . . . no offense intended but that sounds like nonsense to me.

I like Pany's definition of "4th Quarter of 2005" - 100 units to the US on 29th December!

and Europe... well, hopefully before NAB 2006!
 
Hi Ray, welcome!

For those that don't know, Ray is famous for PigsFly and the great support he's given to our industry over the years. I was on the Speed Razor list way, way back when, and still keep up on the Digital Fusion list.

Too bad about In-Sync and Razor... they burned their goodwill with me when I ordered my original DVX from them bundled with "Blade"... probably the worst piece of NLE I've ever seen... and they took forever to make good on the DVX shipment...

I have ordered with one such Pany dealer - I am #1 on the list they are only getting 2 in the first shipment- the other is for the dealer.
I'll let you know next week if indeed I do get it in the first shipment.
