After having used a patch for around 18 months now I thought it´s time for a new one for my Panasonic GH2. I didn´t follow the discussions in Vitaliys forum "Personal View" for a long time. To be honest: I was getting more and more tired about the amount of patches... But yesterday I visited this forum again and Nick Driftwood suggested a new patch called "SpizZ T6" (it´s not the final version).

The description seems to correspond with my expectations: longer GOP´s, not too high datarates and , of course, good quality. So, I installed it yesterday and gave it a try on a sunday walk today.
The test shots are pretty random and handheld (untouched, but some stabilization in post). Mostly shot in 1080p24 - a few scenes in 720p60 (slow motion).
At first glance I´m pretty satisfied but please build your opinion. If someone knows a better patch with similar datarates please let me know...

Picture Style: Standard

I keep going back to Flowmotion 2.02, it eats cards space to a degree, but not anywhere near as bad as some of the others. It's variable to, so that helps for clips with low motion. There's so many out there, the good ones are subtle in quality, but if you shoot a lot of water, leaves on trees, stuff with lots of detail, well that's where they shine. Also you don't see the effects as much on a pc as you do on a large screen t.v.

Thanks maranfilms! I did some test shots with flowmotion 2.02 in 720p60. And, indeed, it looks a bit better (a bit more detail + sharper)... at least to my eyes. But Nick Driftwood is still working on a final version of SpizZ T6. So, when it´s ready I´ll do some comparison shots.......

.....
I´m curious about the comparison...

To put this item to bed: Today Nick Driftwood released the final version of SpizZ T6 http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/comment/138134#Comment_138134 I did some quick comparison shots. Was not easy because I have only 1 GH2 with 2 SD Cards (with the different patches). And after I´ve changed the cards (patches) the light outside changed a little bit. But what I can say is that these patches are so close in quality so that you can hardly perceive any difference. Even at Stream Parser the dates are almost identical. Only at a magnification of 200 or 400% I imagined that I saw a tiny bit of an advantage for SpizZ over FM (24p + 60p), but I could be wrong. So both are great works if you are looking for a patch with GOP 3(24p) and GOP 6(60p).....
