A Serbian Film..NEVER WATCH THIS FILM!! EVER.

This was the most putrid, rancid, disturbing, disqusting, repulsive movie I have ever seen. Normally I do not believe in censorship. I think artist should be able to express themselves but not in this case. There really are things that people should never see on film. The movie would not be that bad if not for a few really Effed up scenes. This is the end-all-be-all for torture porn films. Nothing will ever top this. And if this post makes you think about seeing it, DON'T. I had to take a shower to wash off the negative energy.

I really should have listened to the warnings and not had watched this. You can never un-see.

Didnt know about until your post. Just watched the trailer. Definitely wont go out and see it.

It's an interesting film. Well made, and performed if a bit predictable. Though for me, by seeing many of the things that happen, much power was taken away. Inf act in some places I suspected that the filmmakers were making a pitch-black comedy.

There have been many more films that have been more upsetting for me to watch.

The state prosecution of Serbia opened an investigation to find out if the film violates the law. It is being investigated for elements of crime against sexual morals and crime related to the protection of minors.[3] It was banned by a San Sebastián court for "threatening sexual freedom" and thus could not be shown in the XXI Semana de Cine Fantástico y de Terror

I have mixed feelings about this. At first I felt disgust over the depictions I've read and the perverted scenes suggested by the trailer. I felt further annoyance in critics likening it to Irreversible--a favorite of mine and an inherently moral film because of the 'gimmicky' nature of its structure. But then I remembered that people had the same reactions to Irreversible, never discussing the story or underlining meaning, just calling it disgusting. So I feel a hold to judgement, though that hold will be indefinite because I'm not sure whether or not I'm up to the task of watching this film myself. I still have reservations on seeing Antichrist because there are some things I just can't handle watching. I, myself, would never imagine planning, filming, and throwing money at a scene in which people would need to turn away from.

If you have kids it is a really hard watch.

Don't even go on wikipedia and read about what happens. Because that's what I did and I puked in my mouth a bit. Now that I've said don't do it, I'm sure a few of you will do it.

Yeah, I did that when RJJ first posted too. The description there was plenty bad enough - I can't imagine the movie.

there is another film that took a long time to swallow, I saw it on italian tv in the early 80s. it was a doc about how the presence of a film/video camera was the reason for people dying. one of the examples was the footage that led to the famous pic of the vietcong being shot in the head on the street by a south vietnam official, I think we all know it right? well turned out its a still from a film! and I saw the whole film and it clearly shows how the presence of the camera team led this official to say " I show you what we should do with vietcong" cause he sees in the back of the camera team the prisoner being brought down the street, gets up and the team follows, then films the whole scene! In this doc there were lots more convincing examples of people dying because a camera was present, it was awful to say the least. Now in this case the argument sort of excused the footage and as such was good for anybody who wants to work as reporter. Luckily I can not provide a link to it ;-)

Actually I have to agree. To me it came across a bit childish, playing his music louder and louder to annoy the parents. Because I didn't buy into the reality of it, I just couldn't take it seriously. Hence I found it a bit comical in it's ever increasing quest to offend. The result was something mildly interesting, but too glossy and stylish to be upsetting. It could have had more power not showing you the things it did. That said, my friend found it really disturbing, and it may be worse if you have kids.... I was going 'ohh pleasssee'.

But no, I won't be watching it on Xmas day with my parents. (Im saving 'Nekromantic' for that)

Red the movie? What was wrong with it?

Lets just say if it was made in the eighties it would have been groundbraking ..ofcourse there was another movie named Red in the eighties :)
All the jokes, bits what have you were done before, long ago, the acting was way to cheesy ....looked like it was done on purpose but I could not find any humor in that.
What was the movie about anyways ? And I fell asleep half way through which means atleast for me it's not working.

Haha, ok. I thought it was entertaining at least, didn't think it was "great". I don't think many movies are very groundbreaking anymore, I feel like studios pump stuff out to make money, which it's a business for them, so I don't blame them. It's hard to reinvent the wheel on every movie, and most I don't think it's their goal. It's entertainment, some are succesful, most are not. But you put a big studio behind something with big name actors with some stuff blowing up, one liners, a few cool special effects, some hahas, shot with a capable crew and spend a few bucks (not too much), you're all but guaranteed to make some money.

I do have kids. An 8 year old and a 3 year old and the only film I have seen recently that really got to me, due to being a parent, is RABBIT HOLE. That was a very affecting and effective film. Tough to watch. Now with regards to Serbian Film the children aspect to it is so foreign to my life and thoughts that they held nothing but a curiosity factor. In fact the uses of violence against those children was quite childish as Darkline has also said. The adult on adult violence was a bit more disturbing to me.

you won't go see a movie based on someone elses subjective viewpoint? thats sorta weird coming from a filmmaker.

If we all based a movie on what others think (or a trailer which trailer always glorify the sex&violence) none of us would have seen Requiem for a Dream either.
