EDIT: Now available for viewing.

Vimeo darkened it a bit and the compression shows when viewing full screen. I would keep it small for now.
I can make a High res quicktime available later.

Currently Untitled.

I just finished shooting a new short film last night. I was as sick as a dog but it was worth it in the end.

Details will be coming soon as I work on it in post.

For now....

Written by Melissa Mitchell

Directed/Shot/Cut by Michael Anthony Horrigan

Starring John Collins & Ian Quick

Boom Operator: Tyler Krusch

Lighting: Haitham BouZeineddine

DA: Jennifer Barnes

GRABS

These grabs are altered but they are not finished as far as grading goes. The raw grabs are much more vibrant and I might be putting a little bit of that back in.

Decided to boost the highlights and bring back a little colour.
The end result should be closer to this.

Um...wow, where did this come from? Niiiiiice. Did you wind up taking care of that thing? You know, that thing?

Well, I did get an actor to help me with the boom. (Tyler)
And an actress (Jenn) to help me AD on this one.

I was so sick when we shot this. Thankfully I was heavily medicated.
It was all a blur so that makes editing even more fun. :)

Oh yes, I also got some help with lighting on this as well. Whenever I wanted some changes Haitham was quick to make them. He did an excellent job.

Up late last night editing. Not a great idea since I'm still recovering. Feel worse today so I'm taking the day off. Got a rough cut out of it though. :)

Need to work on the audio a little more but it's coming along.

This is definitely a simple character piece and I tried to keep the camera from becoming distracting to the viewer.
I think I accomplished that by keeping things simple.

We'll see.

pesky cameras eh?

Finished getting back some feedback on the rough cut. Going to make a few changes and move on to sound design. Then off to a buddy for some CC and a few extra goodies.

I'm starting to like the second grab a little more. I've returned some of the colour that I previously muted and boosted the highlights a bit.

I'm going to see if my CC guy can come close to something like this.

If anyone else has any advice/opinions please chime in.

Thanks,

MAH

Mike!

definitely the second shot - they both look nice but in the first one I instantly go to the right side of the frame and only see that character - in the second I go to the right and then see the light on the second character and my eye goes left. The sitting character just doesnt feel important in the first frame and more like an equal in the second. Does that make sense?

Really liking the peachy/orange tone you've got going on though. Gives it some of that black and white nostalgia but still has some mood with the colors.
