GH1 a higher frame rate than 60fps @ 720p is this possible?

hi all toolman here

im using a hacked gh1 & i'm just wondering is it possible to get a higher frame rate than 60fps @ 720p
im shooting some footage of a bow and arrow and 60 fps isn't cutting it. just thought that if the bit rate was lowered one might be able to get 100 fps - 120 fps

thoughts ?

My understanding is that the actual sensor of the GH1 and GH2 has a refresh rate of 60 fps, making any frame rate higher than 60 impossible, no matter the bitrate or resolution. Sorry! Getting higher than 60 fps is actually very uncommon in professional video cameras under $10k, unfortunately. Perhaps you could rent a camera for the shoot?

Also, if you shoot with a shutter speed of 1/250 or faster, there are plugins like Twixtor or Avid's FluidMotion that can take 60 fps and interpolate to 500 fps without flinching. However, these also cost you some cash.

You can use freely available avisynth and mvtools filter to do similar processing. Info and how-to are here:

Here's another video that was done using Avisynth/MVTools:

I second CColton. Twixtor is probably as good as you're gonna get for less than $10k. it may not be as sharp as the Discovery Channel's "Time Warp" but it should still do the job.

Yeah I was going to suggest those Casio cameras also. They are SD resolution....but you can go over 300fps.

Also, I recently read somewhere that the GH-2 is 120Hz. it could have been misinformation though.

Sometimes people get a little overambitious of Vitaliy's excellent, but still limited capabilities.

People, yes. Me, not so much. I'm quite aware of limitations of the method. :)

EDIT: This is a slow-motion sample I shot with a Casio EX-F1. Nothing special. Just really slow. :D
