C100: A good run and gun way to mount an Atomos Ninja

I want to build out a run and gun setup with a small footprint for my Atomos and was wondering how people are mounting their atomos on the camera. I use an Israeli arm when I mount to my tripod or shoulder rig, But I want something ideal that would be specifically for those pickup and go type things where the camera needs to be as small as possible.

Try the wooden camera C100 top mount accessory with a sled arm. That's the smallest C100 / Atomos rig I've come across. Works great but the monitor does the unbalance the camera slightly.

In my experience the best run and gun setup is to use a Cinevate Universal Accessory Mount and place the Ninja right over the EVF, like so:

It keeps the C100 form factor small, compact, and handheld friendly.

without a doubt 2 thumbs up.. Used this setup on the past 3 jobs and it has performed flawlessly! Cinevates mount is money well spent! My only complaint is the hdmi cord I'm currently using. Got it from the apple store and while I enjoy how thin it is, I really need to find a half meter sized thin cable.

Leo, you can't go wrong with the 18" Paralinx HDMI cable - http://www.paralinx.net/store/ultra-thin-hdmi-cable

Trying to figure this out. It looks like the best way to mount the Ninja Blade while keeping the C100 streamlined and compact but am I correct in thinking that with this way of mounting, there wouldn't be a way to mount the Atomos hood? It's hard to tell from pictures on the web if the screw that attaches the hood is also tapped with threads or if mounting from the top of the Ninja negates using a hood. This setup seems perfect for my style of shooting but without the hood outdoors, it might not work very well for me. Any input?

I don't have hood, but I'm pretty sure it screws on between the Ninja and the articulating arm - there's a 1/4-20" on top of the sunhood to mount the Cinevate accessory mount.

And the SSD is not impeded, it goes into the side of the Blade.

Cheers -

The screw that attaches the hood is tapped, but it's easier to not use it and just use your regular screw through the hole in the top of the hood. It's not an issue.

Just received this exact setup, new C100 AF, Ninja Blade and I am waiting for the Cinevate mount from B&H. Thanks for the idea.

Nice, the Cinevate Universal Accessory Mount looks like a fantastic solution for run-n-gun. I don't need it for viewing at that position, but I like the low center of gravity and offset of weight of lenses. I currently rely on a Zacuto Z-Finder Loupe/LCD hood. It looks like the two accessories wouldn't be compatible, has anyone tried both?

The Cinevate Universal Accessory has been working out great for me, and now after about a year of tweaking, between cables, accessories, I like my setup with the Ninja Blade. In fact I like the balance and low profile so much that I don't think I'll upgrade to the Mk II because the EVF viewfinder would make it a challenge to mount the Ninja Blade.

Here is my setup with the hood attached, i also use the GRIP viewfinder. That viewfinder is actually meant to be on the RED 5inch monitor, but it works great with the blade.
I also attached some pics on how i mount the blade on my gimble.

Cheers :cheesy:
