A good interview lens

just did a few shoot days of interviews. i found the best focal length was my canon 24-70mm/2.8. unfortunately without birger mount it stays wide open but interviews looked great. i also used the oly 14-35mm which of course is more flexible because of the aperture. highly recommended. i think having used both i really would have welcomed the 35-100mm. which i think is probably the perfect interview lens.

Having done a ton of interviews the last month, I definitely think the 35-100 is the best lens for those situations. It is really versatile and sharp and f2.0 is BRIGHT if you want/need it. I can't recommend this lens enough if you do a lot of sit-down interviews.

hows the weight on it? can the af100's mount handle it well?

i just did a shoot and mostly used a promaster 17-50 2.8, which many claim to be a rebadged tamron, good range of wide to normal, but i must say i rather enjoyed using the canon FD 70-210 f4.

the promaster(aka tamron) 17-50 i'm still not totally sure on, i have yet to go through the dailies of that shoot and see if i like it or not. but then again, getting it used for 225, it would have to be a rather horrific lens to no be worth the price!

with some sort of lens support it works fine. It's big and impressive looking too. I'll never get the "oh I have one of those at home" comments that I've heard repeatedly when shooting clients with a 7D.

Two good lens i think work great for interviews, the Olympus 14-50m f2.8-3.5 or the Panasonic Leica 14-50mm same aperture differences in price and the OIS with the Panasonic, both are Four thirds, Iris control and i don´t know if the AF10 can control Focus. The Olympus almost the same price of the Tamron 17-50, do you need a Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds adaptor can be the Panasonic or the Olympus one.

Cheers

I've looked at a bunch of lenses and while I like primes and own a few, I bought the Oly 14-35 and 35-100 as my base lens package. When shooting interviews I don't like to break the mood by moving the camera for a different frame size, so these two lens choice are suitable. Actually the 35-100 is the go - to interview lens and the 14-35 is more the hand held doc style shooting lens.
