This is my movie that I just recently completed. I made it pretty much all by myself and I even held the mic have of the time also. It was lit with one light most of the time and two at the most. I'm having some problems with the hosting so please let me know if you guys can download it. Please watch and critique. This is the first movie I have ever directed and had a pretty good time making it. It was sort of a minimalist production.

here it is (QT version 90 megs) it's 13 minutes

This one will start working at 12 tonight because of Bandwith issues.

Thats what im talkin about. Doing your thing man! Its a great film as I told you before. I was supposed to redo the soundtrack but it is pretty good like that man. Everyone give him some feedback!

PS : The download worked fine for me jj. It was fast and even played good.

looked real good, nice use of zooms. Lighting and camerawork is great, and the acting, although a little forced at times, was convincing.

patience... it started hmmm... nice shots. music didn't fit for me. it didn't get my attention so i fast forward it sorry

I really liked your compositions and camera work on this. The dolly shots really added a lot of production value. It's amazing that you got such nice quality with the limited resources mentioned.

My last short had a similar style, ala voiceover, and tone. The problem I had with my film, as I have with yours, is that the lengthy voiceover is rather dry and monotone. It after a while, it starts to becoming uninteresting. I trimmed my film down from 29 min. to 14 min. The end product is much more watchable and flows better. I suggest that you think about tightening up your story a bit, too. You may think every shot is neccessary now, but try to trim it down and see how it works. My bet is that you will never miss the cut shots, and your film will be better for it in the long run.

Just my .02. Keep it up, man. You've got talent.

Thanks alot richie. I dont think I'll be re-editing it at all. I learned alot when I made this and kinda wanna move on to another movie. I've seen been given lots of produciton equipment to make another movie, so I'll take what you said into consideration on future projects. Where can I see a copy of your movie. I'd like to check it out.

Hey combat JJ i can't save the file, it says that the site is unavailable or can't be found. Have you take it down or have you reach your download limit already? Let me know when it works again.

That sucks it's on my firends account and I didnt know it had limits. I'll put it up somewhere else. It'll be up in just a sec.

I'll let you know when I'm done tweaking it. It's on an extra hard drive and one day I'll get around to finishing the forth re-edit...maybe:)

Im creating an m4v ipod version which is smaller so i can get more downloads of it and ill host it for him and up a link in a few minutes.

I enjoyed some of your lighting, and zooms. They felt natural. What kind of lights did you use? how many, etc?

I only used two lights at the most. I used a 750 lowell tota and 250 lowell omni. He didn't drown. He slit his wrists and that was why the tub was a blood color. I would have liked to do more with that scene, but time and money was a factor. I didn't have either of them.

really good work here. shots were composed well, colors looked great. The story was well written, except for dialogue. Seems pretty weak at times. That was also a problem with the actors. A bit stiff. needed to let loose a little more. Other than that, it was still a very fine short. I enjoyed it. :)
