A Firestore C/Canon tutorial--

Hey everyone,

Here's a short tutorial I put up to show how to get the FS-C to work with an A1/H1 etc, and give you instant editing gratification in Final Cut Pro. (assuming you have FCP 5.1.2 or later)

Most of the info applies to Premiere Pro and Vegas if you just select "m2t" instead of Quicktime for file capture to the device.

Edit: Link taken down until further notice. Sorry.

You're welcome. Hope this helps other people who've been on the fence about whether a Firestore C is worth it or not.

They do make beautiful music together.
Lat week was hired to make a short film - in less than a week- and used the Firestore as primary recording device (tape as backup) on a gig for the first time. Couldn't have been easier. A few of my clips had some sort of hit on them, but because of the matching time code, it was easy to capture the affected clips from the tape. And not having to digitize was a crucial time saver with such a short deadline.

jaegersing-
there is a bracket included with the FS-C that you can use to mount on the camera, but I find that a bit awkward, and, I'm concerned about the mic picking up the sound of the fan in the FS-C, so I hook the unit onto my belt with the included belt clip.

Thanks SamKam. How about the firewire cable - is there one included that works with the A1, either on camera or on belt? If not, will a standard cable be OK or do you need one with a right-angle connector?

The included firewire cable works, but you might want to pick up a higher quality one, just to be on the safe side. And, yeah, right angle connector would be better, for sure.
