Thanks man. Its an interesting take on Ali's life we hadn't seen before and the friendship between him and Cavett reveals a lot about both of them.

It's funny that we won the best sports documentary yet when you watch the film, it's not really about sports, it's about Ali's personal life, Nation of Islam, Farrakhan, Malcom X, his personal demons. There are only a few boxing clips in the film. He was on Cavett's show eleven times but in real life, they had a wonderful friendship and that's the crux of the film.

Just watched it. Nice job! I can't believe you filmed this with the C100 -- it looks 4K. Were you balanced @3200K in the sit down intvs?

Thank you! Yes, those 1970s Nikon AIs lenses look good for interiors. Terrible for bright exteriors, too much flaring and CA.

If I recall, I brought my now ancient CoolLight LED Panels on my trips to NYC when we shot this in 2016/17, they were 5600K so that's what the camera was set at.
Those were terrible LEDs compared to the Aputure Lightstorms that I replaced them with and I have now pretty much replaced the Aputures with the Godox VLs.

Everything looked great. Just goes to show it's the operator, not the camera or lights that make a nice image. Did you have a sound person, or did you handle that, too?

One man band, I did art direction, camera, lighting, sound, etc. It was just me and the director for this one.

Congrats Dan.

I've always said the look I prefer these days is new sensors with old glass.

To that end Matt, I have a package of CY Zeiss Primes from the 80s coming from Japan, 25, 50 and 85mm, all mint. I really like the looks people are
getting from them with modern cameras. I wanted to mix it up from the Canon stills and the CN E 18-80mm for personal, fun and art projects.

I might end up using them on an upcoming documentary, I'll have to see if my manual focusing skills are still intact.

My theory is that the Japanese electronics works best with the German glass. Just an observation from watching YouTube.

Maybe the German glass doesn't compress.
