A few laps in a NSX

Mounted my T2i to the harness bar in my buddies Acura NSX this weekend while we were at the track and let it roll while he drove the hell out of it.

I was trying to decide wether I should buy a GoPro HD for all of the motorsport events I am involved in over the summer or not. Two things that were really a downfall of that camera is the jello effect as well as the useless audio.

I decided to give my T2i a try and it turned out great. I mounted it to the roll bar sitting a couple inches behind the seat using my IO Port racing mount which I was able to tighten down and also used some gaffers tape between the mount and bar to help cut down on vibration a bit. I paired the T2i body with a Sigma 10-20mm F/4-5.6 and Rode videomic. The mic was set to its -20db setting because of the amount of engine/exhaust/road noise that would be going on all at once. It was because of the constant noise that the AGC was mostly phased out and you get decent audio without having to do any tricks. I shot everything at 10mm f/5.6, 125 Shutter, 1280x720 60P, Auto ISO.

Overall I am very happy with the outcome. Compared to the GoPro route this looks and sounds infinitely better.

Here are a few laps at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI. Video was unaltered in post.
