A couple of new projects (commerical & real estate)

I haven't been posting much work lately - so I figured I may as well share -
Here are a couple of projects I shot recently.

First, an attorney spot here in Austin:

And secondly, a real estate gig I did for a friend who was selling his house
(possibly the coolest house if you're into midcentury design):

This is the stuff that I primarily do. It looks fantastic!

Did you use a tilt focus to get some of the shots on the lawyer video? Seeing some layers that are more blurred than others leads me to think that.

They look good. Side question. Have you ever had a video removed from Vimeo? I've never put any commercials on Vimeo because I've been afraid they'll remove them. Seems like you have quite a few up, though.

Honestly it never occurred to me that they'd remove them seeing as I have the rights to everything in there.
But now that you mention it, I suppose they are the very definition of 'commercial' in nature.

I've never had a problem - and let's hope I don't because I have my vimeo clips feeding directly to my website.
So if they pulled them from vimeo it would pull them off my site as well.

Hm.

Too bad. I was hoping you found a magic loophole or something!

I like vimeo so much better than YouTube but YouTube's policies are much more relaxed in that area.

man you would have to be crazy to want to sell that house! looks great.

That's what I told him.
But it's huge, and it's only two of them living there.
They redid the entire house to bring it back to what it was originally - it was a mess when they bought it a few years ago. But yeah, he's never going to live in a cooler place.

Canon cams or GH?

Canon 7D with a Sigma 30mm and Nikon 50mm.
And, obviously, an indiSlider (mini).
That thing is fantastic - best bang for the buck of any piece of gear I have.

I wouldn't worry about putting commercials on Vimeo. This is not from the TOS, but the Vimeo community has been supportive of the filmmaker community. Part of the way we pay our bills is to create commercials.

I think as long as your commercials are part of what looks like an online demo reel, it's not an issue.

I have the 4 foot indiSlider and I've got to admit - it does add a lot.

I'm trying to figure out ways to improve it. I've tried the Teflon spray and it seems to work well, but it still sticks once in a while. Would be nice to make some sort of mechanical device to standardize the motion.

Did you use a jib in your lawyer spot? If so, what kind was it?

yeah..i hate the way it jumps and sticks/// I shoot the shot like 3 times to get one that is smooth! (indislider)

very nice, I will be watching again

This is where the money is Im sure

Maybe a little slidered out here but impressive to the client no doubt

do you use a second head on the slider ?

Thanks, Morgan.
I can't speak for everyone - but this is where my money is right now, that's for certain.
That's probably why I don't post that much work lately - I figure most people here don't want to see the day to day stuff... they want to see the more exciting projects. But, these are the gigs that keep the lights on over here, you're right about that.

Maybe a little slidered out here but impressive to the client no doubt
Agreed - but for the ease of use you just can't beat it.
I didn't edit either of these pieces, by the way. And while I don't have any huge gripes with the edits, I would have maybe tried to use less slider stuff. We did shoot some static stuff on both of these pieces - as well as your basic pans, etc.

do you use a second head on the slider ?

With the 7D I actually use the pistol grip head that came with the indi slider. I hated it at first, but that's because I wasn't using a DSLR at first. With a camera that small, that little pistol grip is actually pretty handy.

That said, I had the slider directly on a set of sticks - no head. That indislider is small enough that I just kept it on the sticks all day - whether we were sliding or not.

That's the thing I like about the mini - it's small enough that I don't think twice about taking it and using it. Even when I shoot out of town I take it with me - fits in my suitcase easily.

But I agree - I'm getting a bit slidered out myself.
