A Clarification From Sony On S-Log $899 Program

Sony US promotion includes 32gb SxS-1 card. The European version of the upgrade is locked to a specific camera and once installed, cannot be uninstalled and loaded on a different camera. Sony US is not crippling the upgrade. Thus with the US version it is possible to load on one camera, uninstall and then install on a different F3.

This comes directly to me from Sony US sources.

Ned,

If it is possible, might you be very kind to request your "sources" any update about when will the PMWF3L/RGB be available to order and if there will be a price increase?

I am still in pause.

Thank you so much for your invaluable inputs.

Here in Canada my sources have indicated I will be able to get the slog installed by service techs for around $1000 CDN (no card included.)

I will get this in a few weeks once I scrape up the cash.

the b&h site indicates it as "in stock."

which may not mean that it's actually in stock.

As everyone already know, the corresponding Sony names for these new items are PMWF3L/RGB and PMWF3K/RGB.

Therefore the new B&H part numbers for these items will be SOPMWF3LRGB and SOPMWF3KRGB, which by the way, will be listed in their website soon.

The price remains the same, that is, $13,960.00 for the basic model without Sony lenses, with free shipping for the USA market.

As mentioned previously, there is no estimated time of delivery yet.

All the above info was mailed to our office by B&H Pro Video Dept. early this morning.

well, today was the day when i was allowed to order my slog update at this price at my rep here in austria... so europe is jumping onboard!!!

That's correct. The model number of the one with it built in ends with RGB. Also that link you posted says "optional s-log workflow" You apparently can still buy the old version while they're still in stock but with the new one coming out at the same price... I would wait. Although I would guess that if there's still stock left when the new one starts shipping - the price will drop on the old one - I bet by somewhere around $900.

Maybe it makes sense to wait until the new one comes out... buy the old one at a fire sale and get the upgrade. Depending on the amount of sale, it would be like getting a "free" 32 gig card.
