A Case for the AF100

What is the extra bag on the left in the first shot? Also, those lens cases, where are they from? Looks great!!! :)

The case to the left is a backpack attachment, It can zip onto the front of the soft part of the case. And the lens cases come with it. They have a bit of velcro on the bottom so they securely stay in their pockets.

That price seems reasonable. Perhaps Jan you can itemize what you get for that price.

Okay.

The case comes with
2 zippered pouches and 3 zippered lens cases as well as the partitioning that you see in the picture. The soft case pulls out of the shipping case and there is a place on the underside for put your trolley through. It does not come with a trolley.

It comes with 1/2 the zipper installed so that it can mate with the laptop backpack. this is a separate item.

Additionally it comes with a TSA Lock.

I'm a fan of PortaBrace products - but every once in a while I wished I had a hard case. This is the best of both worlds. Great innovative idea!

Looks great, and a fair price. Thanks Jan!

Is the hard case small enough to take as carry-on luggage?

Two questions:

(1) What is the max size laptop that holds? I use a 17 MBP.

(2) What is the cost without the hard case.

Jan,

What is the cost for just the Soft Case?

Thanks!

I am not selling it that way. You might be able to get a similar case from Portabrace without the hard shell. I toyed with the idea but frankly it started to feel like a purchasing/inventory balancing nightmare. It would be the one that I needed would be the one that I don't have.

Best,

Jan

+1
I love the solution, but I wondered that myself because there is no way any man will put his hands on my mistress... What about out of the hard case?

Just slipped the Macbook 17" in it, lots of room. It doesn't come without the hard case.

If it's not carry on, it doesn't work for me. However - this is a great solution for most of the shooters I bump up against.

I'm sure that there will be a lot more info closer to release… I mean really; the camera hasn't even shipped yet. Maybe we could let Jan focus on that (?) then we can bother her about accessories?

It might fit in some airlines but only the larger ones. I have been on a lot of small planes lately(qualified for Platinum one more year) Me, I am just going to lock it and check it.

Best,

Jan

I'm not gonna say it's a deal breaker as finding more storage for yet another hard case and separate soft case that is no where near Portabrace would drive me friggin' crazy, but I will say that checking bags with just socks and underwear has been nightmarish at times, so the thought of checking my camera would give me pause; however, its a great solution.

Unfortunately, no carry on, no go for me...While I do occasionally ship things to locations, I like at least having the cam by my side.

I have tried with smaller cases and I find that the overhead space doesn't work so well. I mean the overhead space is getting smaller and smaller. The case that I have for the HPX170 and 200, fits maybe 1/2 the time. I end up gate checking the bag and hand carry the camera on board. It is a real drag when your case fit on the way to the location and not on the way back. My life of living on airplanes with cameras this year is what inspired this case, a way to effectively check a bag and not be concerned that the contents would still be there on the far end and not be totally crushed by the sheer weight of the other luggage. This felt like my compromise.

Best,

Jan
