hey friends!

got a question concerning 720p, ive got afterffects with the update installed which recognises mfx files. when i import 720p footage it shows the footage as something like 920x720. is this right? also when i render out the footage should i render out as 1280x720.. if the res is below 1280x720.. wont this mean some stretching is involved thus extra resolution loss along with the compressing ?

my hvx is PAL by the way.

thanx!

Yes 920x720 is the DvcPro HD frame size for 720p. It is basically anamorphic HD which it stretched to 1280, the industry standard vertical pixel count. So export at 1280x720 the footage will be unchanged.

The Difference is the PAR or Pixel aspect ratio, in after effects you want to render a 960x720 image with a PAR of (1.5 DVCPROHD), or you could render a rawer 1280x720 image which Filmbuff28 has spoken about
