From another forum, I've got a negative answer to my question
Looks like with any filter on the pancake, the bayonet will not work for the converter... Pity.
Probably none - the wide converter has its petal hood fixed permanently, making it problematic to use a matte box (well, yuou can use a matte box actually, but without a filter in it - lol). BummerI'm waiting on my 16mm pancake...any probably the wide convertor...so what are the ND options...matt box?
... That said, shooting in bright sunshine will require breaking the video rules, and excessive use of high shutter speeds![]()
In my experience the 16mm pancake requires a good stopping down just to make it usable. It's very soft at maximum apertures.
A high fixed ND + lots of aperture are the best option for this rather average lens. IIRC F11 is where the lens is sharpest.
Sorry, but you're contradicting yourself - "high fixed ND+lots of aperture" will made it softer, as you said in your first statement that "the 16mm pancake requires a good stopping down just to make it usable. It's very soft at maximum apertures"
Anyway - I guess this is just wording; we all agree that a mediocre lens like this has a "sweet range" which tends to be narrower than with high quality lenses. This is why I deliberately gave up on the ND 1.5 filter, and bought an ND0.9 instead - now I can use the pancake at F10 which is the middle of the sweet range...
Maximum aperture is when the lens is open most.
I think you'll find I did not contradict myself.
