Yeah, if your a student. Are you a student? :)
Or if you can provide a student ID

Certainly you know some relatives or friends with kids? If I wasn't a student, I'd certainly go through the trouble to save hundreds of dollars.

Don't forget studica.com.

I plan on buying vegas 6c + dvd architect 3 from there pretty soon. :) I really really like Vegas now. great editor. But, I might have to stick with editing on the trial version for now, since all of the money I have is going toward I'm film I'm shooting.

Cool - but are these all academic versions?

Actually, each Software Developer has different policies regarding their academically licensed program.

Some of them limit features (most don't), but it's a good idea to make sure of what is and isn't included before purchasing the academic version of a program. For instance, the academic version of Adobe After Effects Pro has historically NOT come with certain "Bonus" plugins.

Save for the Sony Media Software products (Vegas, etc.), practically all academic versions of software prohibit using these versions for commercial purposes in their license agreements.

Actually, there is not academic version of After effects pro, only after effects standard. however, the nice thing about most academic software, adobe and vegas included is that once you go to the next version, upgrade, you now officially have the full version of the software. Although after effects is still different in that you have to pay the upgrade from standard to pro, which is about $450.

I was looking on academicsuperstore for Vegas 6 + DVD, and it seems to be a pretty full version of it. comes with architect 3, AC-3 encoding software, Boris Grafiti LTD, Boris FX LTD and Magic Bullet Movie Looks HD 50. the last three I listed are claimed to come with it FREE. So, will I be getting a complete version of the editor, or will I be getting a lesser version?

All Sony Media software is full software. Like I said, they don't even push an academic license on you.

Wow, when I bought AE6 Adobe didn't seem to offer the pro edition for academic sales. I'll have to check that out.

Hmmm, it might just depend where you buy from. I outfitted an entire university computer lab with AE6 Pro but it couldn't be bought from the school's own bookstore (which did stock AE6 Standard), I had to go through an academic reseller.

that's like music to my ears. I had a feeling it'd be full version. I got Liquid 6 at academic price and it seemed to have everything they offer.

Looks like I'll have a new NLE next week. :)
