7D 7d with the red one

My friend Bo left his rig with me so I can practice with, so instead of just reading the manual and pressing some buttons, I did what I always do with any new system that comes in our facility. Put it through its paces. At the same time, placed our 7D beside it to compare.

I've done some basic resolution tests, of course the results are predictable BUT I also did low light single candle tests, going for high ISO up to 2000 only which is what the R1 can do.

Any requests?

Haha! I wish, Calomile, I'm basically an advertising and corporate guy. also, there was some disappointment from some guys that the zacuto tests didnt have an R1 in the mix.

post some stills already. It's going to be a kick in the nuts when we compare the two, especially when it comes to moire and aliasing.. Bah. the Red is also soo sharp without looking digital.

Is it an MX'd Red?

Nope.

Its among the early cameras. This got a special eos lens mount with blue tooth for the follow focus controller.

Im using the same lenses between the 7D and R1. My low light candle test is done with an 80mm f1.9 mamiya 645 lens which I adapted to my canon.

max iso on this R1 is 2000 iso only.

I'm testing iso's 400,640,800,1280(1250 on 7d), 1600, 2000.

oohhh boy... dang.. so much for the hype..

PaPa, I'm NOT gonna touch the FLUTs in REDcine so we're gonna see it as is.

Is this a right approach?

I'm just gonna apply the Looks in the meta data since I'm doing a controlled test.

Exporting the files to 1080 TIFFs to match the 7D size.

Heres the video. This things are meant to be viewed moving. :-)
Those who want to know what its like to intercut the 2 will find this interesting.
