hey you all,

i ´m following this forum, dpreview.com and phillipbloom, as well as several vimeo guys for the last 4 month. now as the 7d is in stores, i´ll get one.

i ordered it without an optik, so just the body.

which lenses to take? that´s my question. i already tested the canon ef-s 17-55 is usm lens which is about 900$ or more, which is at the moment too much. it is a great lens though, and quite fast.

i´m looking for the TAMRON 17-50 without the VC, as it should be quite loud, and for filming not too necessary. (bought an awsome manfrotto tripod, should be my VC :) )

the other lens i´m looking for is the TAMRON 60mm (400$) which is quite new on the market, it should be a makro and a prime at the same time, especially for portraits, which is, referring to my filming intention quiet awsome.

The TAMRON 60mm of course competes with the canon ef 50mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.4, and the 50mm 1.8 for just 100 bucks is quite awsome as i heard.

Would it be a good desicion? the two TAMRON Lenses?
bouth are designed for the Croped Sensor of the 7D.

Best Wishes,

i don´t like SIGMA that much, wrong?

by the way, excuse my bad english, and i don´t know if the prices are always correct, transfered it from Euros :)

hello,

two little suggestions from my filming experience with the 7d ... get the tamron with the vc, i think you will miss it in certain situations, i often have the (time)pressure to make one or more shots handheld, without a stabilisator it is a no go (especially in the case of the rolling shutter and the little weight of the cam) if you dont have a great (and expensive) rig.

for the prime lens if i only could take one with me it would be the sigma 30mm 1.4 (in my eyes great image quality/bokeh). because of the 1.6 crop from the 7d it becomes a 50mm and more focal length, especially indoors is often to long for me.

but i think the tamron 60mm would be a great deal or also the sigma 50mm 1.4 (sigma often has autofocus problems on canon cameras, it can drive you nuts, but if you "only" want to film there ist nothing to worry about), the canon 50mm 1.8 makes me a little to nervous bokeh if you want to use it stopped down.
