7D Shoulder Support

What keeps me from buying most of these shoulder rigs is that they lack any counterweight.
Counterweights over your shoulder are the best way to elimate all shaking. They also shift the weight from you arms/wrists to your legs/back.

Any cheapo shoulder rigs with counterweights? There is one on EBAY for $169 that I used to have but I lost the darn thing(It used to be $99!). It worked suprisingly well.

I am really considering building this for my 7D, but I have the Z-Finder and it almost requires an adjustable baseplate.. are there any DIY stabilizations with that?

The Z-Finder is almost pointless to have if it's not within eye distance on a stabilization :(

Maybe I should just invest in a Redrock or something instead..

I think just about all shoulder mounds are adjustable.

I love my Spiderbrace. I've owned the same one (purchased for $70) for two and half years and it's never failed me. I even have a Steadicam Merlin to use, and most times, I'll pick up the Spiderbrace instead (when a heavier handheld feel is preferable to an ethereal floaty feel).

What I don't understand about the DIY tommy-gun style shoulder mount (which I haven't tried yet) is that I was under the impression that most of the value of a Spiderbrace is the lateral handles, which stabilize the camera's z-rotation—the access which is the biggest dead giveaway for a handheld camera. Doesn't putting the two handles in single file, tommy-gun style, go against that principle?

I bought one of the Korean rigs off ebay and I have a $20 lens case full of weights hanging off the back of the shoulder pad, it balances my MKII really well. Another option is to use velcro wrist/ankle weights.

Im Going to Have to say that the Rig In www.cameraDojo.com Is the Best Bang For the Buck.

Its 995 dollars and It Includes the Follow Focus. the rest of the Gear Adds to the Price of i think 1200 or so, but thats Including Mics and stuff from IKAN.. I will Post A pic of My Set up as soon as I can

TYVM! I'm gonna try that one. Do you think I should go with 2# or 5# ankle weights?

I can't really say, I haven't tried them myself. It depends how much weight you have upfront. I'm not sure exactly how much my counterweight weighs, I just loaded it up until it felt balanced.
