7D Short - Metatron

Let me tell you a couple of things about the production of the short.

This short was produced by the Spring Film Group, a meetup group in Houston, Texas. It was part of a series of films we produced last year. Each film was shot in one day and Metatron was no exception.

We used a 7D and prime lenses on Metatron, 22mm, 24mm, 30mm, and 50mm and shot the film at 1080 24P.

All post, editing, grading, and effects was done on a homemade quadcore PC running Windows 7 Professional 64Bit and Adobe Production Suite CS5. Grading was done offline in AfterEffects in Color Finesse. I tried to compress the flesh tones into comic book tones. I had just finished a book on comic book coloring and was trying to match skin tones to those you'd find in print. Basically, I was trying to get a comic book look with the actors.

The story is about two brothers, both angels, during the Apocalypse. Metatron doesn't want to lose his brother and Lucifer wants to keep on living. It's a story about redemption and salvation and makes use of bible passages twice in the script during Lucifer's final prayer.

The film has been well recieved and was an official selection at the Houston Comic Book Convention, Comicpalooza.

I wrote and directed the piece.
