7D Overheating = permanent damage?

Hey guys, I shot the other day with my 7D and it overheated about four times over 6 hours of filming. I was filming a live event, and during one of the overheats, I just really had to get a shot and though the overheat warning came up, I kept on filming till I got my shot - have I damaged my camera in anyway as a result??

Well how knows what will happen to the insides of a camera that is getting hot all of the time. Are people just frying the insides? Probably not the best idea to use these for long events or have two cameras to give them a break

I've had the camera shut down on me once. That was out in the midday sun at 38c. I've shot a couple of long music events with it and have just learned to ignore the heat indicator. If it gets dangerously hot, it will shut down. I've so far shot over 200gigs worth of footage and every shoot, the heat indicator has come on. Camera is still going strong.

Do you think that is good on the camera?

obviously I'd prefer to not have to worry about some blinking red indicator during a shoot. It's annoying but I just had to learn to deal with it.
I sort of know the limits to the camera, it shut down once when the camera must of been over 50c to the touch. It absorbs sunlight heat like no other. If I'm shooting indoors and the heat indicator goes on, I'm not going to worry about it.
I will worry about it if it was burning my hands though.

I doubt you're actually damaging the camera. The footage will degrade (get noisier) as the heat rises, but presumably the shutdown will prevent any actual damage.
