7D overheat/ Firmware fix one day?

Just curious if this is fixable through a firmware update (maybe one day) if canon decides to look into it. any thoughts?

The overheating is caused by the new weather proofing coupled by the small body and the dual digic sensors... I dont see how a firmware update could fix any of that?

I doubt it. The heat could originate in a number hardware components, most of which are likely running as efficiently as they ever will. It's possible that a future firmware upgrade would make the processing of the final image somewhat more efficient in the camera, but I seriously doubt even that would significantly lower temperatures.

As others have said before: shade the camera, use a fan on the camera, or even strap on a cold-pack.

Just out of curiosity, did Canon officially state this, or is it conjecture?

sorry I didn't mean to make it seem like an official statement. No this is not an official statement it is a synapsis of probably ten threads on the overheating issue and the outcomes of said threads... this is simply a collaboration of ideas that many of us have. I haqve also come to this idea after my many months of using the camera in various conditions...

Right, right. Personally, I agree. Just wanted to know if I could tag Canon's name on there in the future.
