7D or T2i if you only had it for the weekend?

We are doing a 1-day shoot in a few weeks and have decided to experiment with DSLR for this project. I'm used DSLRs extensively for still work but never for video (other than a quick 20 minute demo with a 5D the other day).

Our budget is basically non-existent and we have to rent essentially everything we will need (with the exception of a 17-55 f2.8, and 70-200 f4 lens), so every decision we make is crucial.

We had settled on the 7D a while back as we had access to the EF-S 17-55 and didnt want to waste it by getting the 5D. However, as we review the budget and discover what we need to rent for audio equipment the cost is slowly creeping up.

Today did some pricing and realized that we would be able to get the T2i for SIGNIFICANTLY less than the 7D (and we would be able to rent, along with the recorder for the entire week).

My question is: If you weren't concerned about long term durability or still work is there any benefit from using the 7D over the T2i (better high ISO?, better audio when using a Juicedlink 454?, etc). If not, would you recommend renting the T2i for the week (and possibly renting a second one as a backup for the weekend) or the 7D with likely just a day to prepare?

Also, on a separate note, will I really notice any difference between the 50mm 1.4 and the 50mm 1.2L? Switching to the 1.4 will allow me to also rent the Tokina 11-16...

Thanks everyone!

T2i if you are going to be on a shoulder rig or tripod. if no shoulder support and if the T2i doesnt come with the attached "grip" then i would go for the 7D since there is more to hold onto.

the T2i is reeeeeeaaaaaal small to hold once you put any kind of meatly lens on it.

We will be doing everything with a tripod, so size doesn't matter... I think its going to be the T2i.

Now to decide on what primes we want to augment our zooms.

i'd switch to the 1.4....but it really depends on what shots u want. if the shot requires the tokina then get it. are u shooting superlow light stuff? because more than likely u wont b shooting at 1.2 anyway.

Well this is for a 48 Hour Film Project, so flexibility is key as we wont know what we are shooting until we do it...

Right now the lens kit I am planning on is as follows:

Tokina 11-17mm f2.8
Canon 17-55mm f2.8
Canon 70-200mm f4L
Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 85mm f1.8

I have budget for one more lens and am debating between the following:

Canon 35mm f1.4L
Canon 24mm f1.4L
Canon 24-70 f2.8L
Canon 14mm f2.8L

The 20-70 gives us the most flexibility, which may be best when doing a 48 Hour as we may not have the luxury of setting up perfect shots with primes. however, we lose 2 stops with the 24-70.... So we wouldn't have anything below 2.8 at a wide angle.

Anyone have thoughts?
