7D or Mysterium X

«and I am a DSLR and GH1 supporter from day one as much as RED» is different than to say «and I am a DSLR and GH1 supporter as much as RED from day one», have anyone noticed the difference? ;-)

Content is king. Still.
I feel stupid. I had to read that several times to catch the difference.

for anyone who hasn't seen 'em yet... Here are some frame grabs of footy from the RED One MX Reel saved as 4k tiff's.

just a heads up for anyone interested...

There were more 4k grabs added to that lightiron link above, as well as some "preliminary" Mysterium vs. MysteriumX frame grabs as well (Shot at 4.5k on RED One bodies) that were done by Michael (Lightiron) yesterday.

To my eye MX at 2000 looks as good as or better than M at 800...

I am crossing my fingers hoping that one of the changes to the scarlet will be that it too will include the mysterium X sensor. Even the 2/3rd inch, i would be down for Super 16mm depth of field, fixed lens and electronic control of focus for steadicam op. Hell, some people made the dvx look shallow with enough zoom, 2/3rd inch is just half as difficult.

(Unless I'm misunderstanding your post) Scarlet has always been Mysterium X sensor. Same technology. Just different sensor size and pixel size (and count obviously).

The 2/3 fixed, 2/3 interchangeable, S35 Scarlet, EpicX, Epic S35 are all Mysterium X. FF35 Scarlet, FF35 EPIC and all larger formats beyond that will be Monstro sensors (3rd generation sensor technology)

DoF difference for the 2/3" models compared to a 7D, for example, would be roughly 2.5 stops at equivalent Field of View.

damnit Jason, I'm at work and i didn't bring a change of clothing.... This is going to be a problem....

Great news though. And based on your link, i cannot believe the ENORMOUS difference between the two sensors.

Just wanted to add that Redcine-X (the free proprietary software used to read/convert/edit/one-light the .r3ds) is absolutely wonderful...I love it. Now I just wish I had a camera to acquire footage to use it for!
