7D material projected in cinema

Has anyone had a look at 7D material projected from DigiBeta, HDCAM or even 35mm transfer print onto a cinema screen?

I did some tests with the camera over the last days and am fairly satisfied with the quality, but could look at it only on an 17in macbook or 20inch imac.

Generally the motion looked to me smoother on 720p. Would others agree with this observation? I personally don't mind loosing some resolution for better motion.

Thanks,

i

resolution and motion are 2 different guys.
Ive seen very grainy SD footage on big 2K screen and it was watchable.

Sorry. I obviously did not put my question very clearly. I am interested in how 7D material looks on the big screen. ( I linked motion and resolution as it subjectively seemed to me on lower res that motion seemed better)

bwwd: how would you compare the viewing experience to i.e. HVX200 footage? Was it very grainy, because of extreme low light?

thanks.

listen ,if they would show you youtube footy in your cinema then it means its good enough , because you just watching it sitting there.
I dont get where you want to take this.
They screened Blair Witch Project, did you seen how bad it looks ?
Dont worry. There is difference in visible grain, sharpness ,but its kinda...whatever , if they showing me this footage then i guess its good enough for 2k projection.
You wont make 7D look magically better ,it is what it is,it will be watchable on big screen.
I dont get why people are so concerned about that :)
You see people arent even treat this thread seriously ,we know that you dont have your own feature film to be shown in cinema but its kind funny why it matters to you.
Bad looking films were projected, ive seen bad looking grainy commercials projected ,looked like 35mm adapter tests on vimeo.

I wonder what the percentages would be between the various distribution media for 7D material. HTTP/Computer? Large screen LCD/Plasma Blue Ray/DVD? Broadcast? Cinema? I guess it's something like 95/4.9/.09/.01.

Of course 720p video is going to look smoother. It's 60 fps, and the higher the frame rate the smoother the motion will be. Most people just happen to prefer the greater stutter of 24 fps.

The 720p mode should be avoided whenever possible. It has significantly lower resolution and significantly worse aliasing. The 1080p mode only resolves 600-700 lines; the 720p mode is probably around standard definition.

60p looks kinda like 30 interlaced ,50p looks like 25 interlaced ,it just looks so amateur looking ,i cant even describe how i hate this look and smoothness... yuck.

I am working on an internationally funded observational documentary, which is aimed at the festival circuit amongst others, so it matters to us a lot how it would look there. It would be nice if anyone has had the chance to look at such material in cinema and seriously share their experience. thanks.

I've not seen the 7D, but I've seen the 5D markII. No problems whatsoever- similar to a Sony F23. Since the 7D resolves close to the 5D and the HVX, which I also saw in cinema projection looking great, I would assume there's no problem with the 7D.

Thanks Sergio. That sounds very positive.

Similar to the F23? Only if you shoot like Michael Mann! The F23 is far, far, far, far superior. What it lacks in DOF characteristics, it makes up for with everything else.

I've seen 5D footage blown up before, but they were static shots. It'll look good if the footage is shot well. Unfortunately the big screen will also reveal these cameras' flaws in a bigger way
