So, just trying to get the most out of these 7D Mark II bodies... I wouldn't have bought them but they were a gift and I would like to use them to their fullest (yet limited) ability.

Question: Would an anamorphic 1.33 adapter on one of my Canon primes give me slight more detail?
I know that will give me 2.35:1 ratio and I'm fine with that but was hoping that squeezing all the pixels into that ratio would help with getting some detail in the image. Sorry if this has been asked before.

Unfortunately it doesn't exactly work that way. You will get closer to the wider screen aspect, but unless you're also projecting the finished film through an anamorphic projection lens, you're not really gaining any resolution. At the same time, the anamorphic adapter will introduce it's own issues. The really expensive pro ones (many thousands of $$$) will do a good job, but anything more reasonably priced will tend to be a little softer. How soft? Well that all depends. A lot of people like the "look" and seek it out along with all of its quirks but not for increased resolution.

It won't really add anything in terms of detail/sharpness because you are still only dealing with the same number of pixels. In fact you're essentially magnifying those pixels by 1.33x (on one plane only, though).

The cost of getting a set of anamorphic lenses & some proper lens supports for them is probably a lot more than getting a new camera with better resolution. Plus you won't have to deal with problems like dual focus rings, focus not reaching infinity, etc that you get with many of the adaptors.
