7D, magic lantern and audio...?

ok. so im about to get a 7D (just because i need a GOOD still cam. and decent video capability will be handy)

QUESTION:
i hear that magic lantern is not (and is likely not going to be) compatible with the 7D.
so does that mean that im always going to be doomed to either 1. bad audio or 2. using an h4 (or some other external recorder) and syncing in post. as well as no, or substandard audio metering?

The guys at Magic Lantern have basically said the 7D is unmodifiable. That being said, you are still not restricted to using automatically controlled audio. Companies like BeachTek and JuicedLink now include in most of their products something that can disable the auto-gain function of the 7D by emitting an inaudible sound that confuses the auto-gain, allowing you to control the volume of your microphones with the unit's built in preamps.

Beachtek DXA-SLR-This unit features AGC disabling technology, and Phantom Power capabilities
The BeachTek DXA-5DA-This unit also features AGC disabling technology, and LED Audio levels, but no Phantom Power
JuicedLink DT454 -This unit features AGC disabling technology, as well as Phantom Power and LED Audio Levels
