7D Hot Pixel Issue

Hello,
I shot some footage not realizing an issue is sometimes present in DSLR cameras called "Hot Pixel". Basically, on long exposures or high ISO's, some of the pixels are unnecessarily sensitive, thus you get a red pixel (or more) in your image.
Im adding a frame grab to exemplify. I managed to resolve the issue by forcing the camera to clean the sensor ("clean now" / "manual cleaning" techniques in the menu). Just wanted to put it out there, lest you get a nasty red pixel messing with your footage.

If someone has an idea on how to remove hot pixels from footage in FC or AE, id love to hear it.

there are plugins for fcp and ae for dust and scratch removal that allow you to isolate a bad pixel and fix it.

there are plugins to remove logos from videos and you can enable them on 4 pixel square, you will never notice after conversion and forget about your pixel.

Send it to Canon and they'll fix it. You spent money on the thing, so why live with it when you don't have to?

I actually found a method online for removing it, and it worked. But now I have this pesky problem of footage with the hot pixel... if only I could send THAT to canon for repair...

I as well have this issue. Thankfully it doesn't show itself within video footage, only in long exposure shots. So stary night timelapses are a problem. weixiang623 can you explain what Canon did for you? And how fast is fast?

I exchanged my camera at the store I bought it from because it had a white hot pixel near the center of the frame.

How did you end up fixing the pixel problem? I have a couple white pixels that I need to address.

this is a one-year-old thread, I'm not sure those people will come back to answer...

the usual dead/hot pixel treatment is as follows:

place the body cap on the camera. Go to M picture mode. Go to menu and look for sensor cleaning. Choose clean manually. Hit ok and wait 30 seconds. Then resume regular use. It will get rid of the dead pixel.

Wow. Like a charm. Wish I'd noticed/remedied this before I shot 60GBs of video. Any recommendation on a FCP solution to fixing those hot pixels in the shot footage?

Thanks!
