THAT LOOKS SO GOOD! What lenses did you use? People have said that the 7D would not work with the GlideCam because of focusing issues, did you just have your lenses focased to infinity the whole time, or were you pulling as you skated?

nice vid

doesn't look like any focus pulling was required. Looks like he was shooting at a high F stop with a wide lens. Guessing the stock lens at somewhere between F8 and F 11?

f6-f7 with 1 lens. Canon 16-35mm for the 5d and 7d. The shots that a wider are with the 5d.

Those people usually havent practiced :)

I just shot a music video with a GlideCam HD4000 with my 7D. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. I can't see any way to possibly have pulled it off in a single day shoot without it. Focusing takes practice, as does working and balancing the rig. The best thing to do if you shoot shallow DOF is mark your focus and practice walking a straight line with it while tracking your subject. Master that and there's no stopping you.

Awesome footage and great skills to keep your subject in focus - I'd have broken every bone in my body :-)

ps: you are holding the glidecam in front of you right? How do you know if your subject is still in frame?

I thought I'd add my "great footage!" comment as well. I'm also curious how you managed skating and framing? Did you have a vest on?

Dude... You are my new favorite videographer... I gotta have a conversation with you... I've been an inline and ice hockey player for almost 20 years... got a 7D recently too and have been running a steadicam pilot for the last year after 3 or 4 years with the Glidecam 4000.. I've been working up to shooting some simulated in game hockey action with guys I know at a local rink..

I can't believe how good your shots are.... what shutter are you shooting at?

on interest you could search on youtube "lakai fully flared" (or watch out for the dvd) ... the best moving skateboard footage i know. the videographer is also on a skateboard and uses wideangle/fisheye lenses.

seems this cam can handle full frame movement with a lot less jello than the gh1... I don't like the overall look though.. looks videoish.

Shoot me and email and we can talk..

I think I was at 500 or so..

nice footy Vinny, its good to see you're still skating and keeping busy. it seems like too many of the pro skaters that i used to look up to back in high school fell into obscurity in the last 5 years. keep it up.

Vinny, I'm sure I've met you, or at least seen you skating a demo at Rampworx in Leeds (UK)... Good to see you're still keeping busy!

Footage was super smooth, the parts on and around the ramps are great because you already have enough speed to keep up with your subject, without having to skate to build up more speed, so there's no to and fro in the movement.
