I must say that overall I am very pleased with my 7d. Yes there are some issues with the codec, and 720p mode is sensitive to repetitive patterns, but when I compare to the 1d announced today, I just can't justify the extra expense for better low light performance. Once the 5d gets the new firmware/frame rates, I might upgrade to it depending on where Red is at with the S35. That is of course unless our favorite technical wizard, Hudson is able to pull a rabbit out of his hat and disable the masks and record indicator on the hdmi out, giving a full 1080 uncompressed hdmi output to the canons, in which case I'll most likely spend my money on some paypal love to Tramm and either a nano flash or http://www.cinedeck.com/content/#/2?type=serial&var=

But, like I said in the meantime I am very stoked on what is possible with the 7d. I feel like my energy needs to get thrown into writing and pre visualization and take the step of making my first short film since I went to film school 10 years ago.

Exciting times we live in without a doubt!
