7D external audio.

I know this topic has been dicussed on here, but I find it very confusing.

If I have a Rode mic, I can run that through a H4N or a Juiced link and then into the 7D allowing me to monitor the audio through headphones?
 
With the H4N you can monitor the sound but not with the juicedlink. I don't think there is a line out from the H4N so to run it to the 7D does not work.

I've solved this by going from mic->juicedlink->Sony D50>Headphones and line out to the 7D. Just made an adapter cable that brings the line level down to mic level.

But still the AGC will play tricks on the 7D...
 
Cant you just use a male to male headphone type cable and output from the h4n headphone jack to the audio input on the 7D?
