7D contrast question

good find, unfortunately im not using after effects, so i may have to just make due. Just requires a small bump off of the contrast.

ah, didn't read that. have to go but ill reada ll of this when i get home. Thanks for checking it out!

Cineform's products can apparently see the whole range. I am poor and cheap so I needed a free solution.

I found this post on cinema5D: http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=335&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=70#p4037

It's NLE agnostic. Tried it. Works great with PPro CS3 and the 7D. The whole range is there! This method uses Lagarith lossless codec to make intermediates but if you prefer a different codec, just use that instead.

It may seem cumbersome at first glance, but once you have installed everything and made the settings, it's quite easy.

I wrote a batch script that automates creation of avs-scripts and rendering of intermediates and proxys. Credit to SLoNiCK who did this for his GH1: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=171230&highlight=avisynth

All I have to do now is run the batch script in the folder with all my .MOVs and wait for it to finish. Then I can edit the generated files as usual with the full dynamic range in practically any NLE.

If I edit with proxys I can even replace them with the avs-scripts directly in PPro with a plugin. No need for the large intermediates.

Hope this helps. It helped me a great deal as I had no other way of using the beautiful full dynamic range of the 7D when I got it.
