i got two spare batts along with their own charger for $25 on ebay and have not had any problems with them thus far... only issues i have had is that they do not like to pop out of the camera as easy as the canon brand one and also when you have one in and turn on the camera a screen pops up that says: batt cannot comm with camera... just go over to okay and you are fine... basically what that is telling you is that the batteries life will not be displayed... so you have to make a mental note... but they are so cheap it is worth it.
and then for CF cards, i went with the ever popular Kingston x133 16GB cards... i got mine when amazon was running a special... i think i paid $78 for two cards and a USB reader.
you run the risk of getting some crap from other forum members asking about cf cards because there are so many threads about this already... i hate to even post what i am using to some degree because inevitably someone will say that my kingston x133 are a bad choice but i have never had any problems with them. someone told me to format the cards in the camera every time i am going to use them... i think i have done that everytime, but nevertheless, i have never had any issues with mine... and once again, so much cheaper than the san disk stuff.
