7D Christmas Video Postcard

Here's a link to a xmas video postcard my daughter Karly (who just turned 16) and I put together. It features her version of the classic 'White Christmas'. Filmed on Canon 7D with Sigma 30mm f/1.4, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, Nikon 85mm f/2.

Awesome video, def got me into the xmas spirit. Was looking at the canon 17-55mm lens - is it a good general/all round lens?

I think the 17-55 is a great all round lens. Very crisp, good contrast. 17mm is nice and wide, and 55 gives a nice shallow dof short telephoto. I like the image stabilization a lot. Hand-held I'm pretty shaky, so the IS smoothes out the small jittery shakes and also helps a lot with jello. F/2.8 is fast for a zoom, but you'll still want at least one f/1.4 prime for low-light.

What did you do for the audio? Studio recording and lip sync?

For the audio, I recorded her in my home studio and had her lip-sync, as I wanted to do multiple passes with the 7D.
Karly initially wanted to me film her live, like her Summer of 69 and Building a Mystery covers (also on Youtube), but she understood that I wanted to use just the 7D for all the shots, and not do a multiple camera shoot which would have been 7D-Hv20s.
