7D Battery grip to boost height on Baseplate

Has anyone using a 7D battery grip to increase the height to match FF unit or Matte-box on rod support so you wouldn't have to use a riser plate?

Just curious...it seems a riser plate from Zacuto is like $135 bucks. While you can buy a generic Battery grip for $79 and be able to use two batteries and six AA batteries and have the added height for rods/rigs...I think?

Looks good on the tripod.

Chick dig nice big rigs!!!! Yeah, baby!!!!

What is the height of the quick release adapter...will that give enough room? Seems like it not much height from that slim design.

Thanks.

Explain more??? Please.

Maybe a bit sarcastic... no overpriced "Z" brand name. Despite their quality built items, still don't get the prices.
I think it's great idea. I am buying one too for a 550D, as I find the camera too small to hold comfortably in the hand.

I found that too, so I got the Phottix battery grip. It's a decent fit with my hand. Plus the options to use 1, or 2 batteries, or 6 AA rechargables.
Changing batteries is now a breeze even when mounted on a tripod.

I'm still not sure on what shoulder rig to get.

Big thumbs up to the battery grips.
