The bestbuy stores I've called seems to be getting kits only at this point. Maybe they'll have body-only 7D's for sale at some point in the future, but none of them were sure.

Did a little breakdown for my own clarification-
No Best Buy stores in Los Angeles have the 7D, or know when they are going to get any, let alone the "body only" version. I really wanted to take advantage of the 10% coupon, however it is only valid in stores, meaning I will pay sales tax, which almost makes it pointless...
$1700 + CA tax = $1865 - 10% = $1680
versus:
Online sites like Adorama are accepting orders, will probably ship before BB gets a shipment in, and I don't pay shipping or sales tax. The downside of ordering online is usually having to wait for it to get here, but in this case its the same either way.
$1700 + no tax + free shipping = $1700
Thoughts? How long are these sites like Adorama, etc. really taking to ship?

-Just got off the phone with Adorama, they have a large shipment coming in October 21st and quite a few open slots for body only orders, he couldn't give exact numbers on if I would get one in that shipment but he said it looked very, very likely. They also will get w/ lens kits as well. Placing mine now.

It's actually really odd, BB's website is telling me all the stores in my area are listing "In Stock" for the body, though when I call, they don't have any, and aren't sure when they will get more. I've even called the same store several times to get a new person on the phone to make sure they all had the same story.

I get the same thing happening when I check the 7D kit for store availability (actually, I can get it to say unavailable and then available within the span of a minute by entering different, but close by zip codes). I haven't tried checking out with in-store pickup because the 10% coupon won't work if I do.
By the way, you might want to re-do your math with the 10% off at BB and the kit price when you factor in what you could sell the 28-135mm lens for...

A BB 60 miles from me told me they could get one shipped in 3 days from a store a couple of hundred miles away that has 2 kits in stock and gave me the 10% discount which got the price under Amazon including the Sales Tax. I have jumped ship, cancelled my Amazon order (9/1/09 8AM) and expect to take a nice one hour drive in the next 4 or 5 days to pick up my camera.

We guarantee all orders placed / taken, that are ready to pick by 6pm (ie, not in need of fraud verification), (M-Th) will go out the same day- whether or not the customer upgrades shipping.

Ordered the kit at Adorama on 10/7 and they shipped on 10/14... I should be getting it today! Yay!.. already cancelled Amazon and New Egg ... though I wish New Egg ships it first with their 12 months no interests Can't wait!
