There are two kits over at the Arden Best Buy in Sacramento, CA. If you ***** at them enough, they will probably ship it to you or a Best Buy near you. I would have picked one up, but the funding isn't quite there yet. I'd rather have someone on here get it than some white haired, overly proud, impossibly rich, grandfather who keeps walking into my damn shots!!! (end non-sequiter, digressive rant. Apologies. Hard shoot last night.)
Anyway, they were pretty chill about me groping it. For those of you who have not actually felt one... all the switches are incredibly satisfying to use. I think I feel in love a little bit today...

What up fellas first post from a long time silent watcher, I found a 28-135 kit fri in best buy gastonia nc i drove from greensboro there to get it. I also paid for it@ the best buy in burlington nc to hold it. i then used the fat wallet coupon at pick up in gastonia to get a price that came in lower then ordering the kit off the net with free shipping! thanx to kevin wells for sending me the coup and thanx to you guys for this thread and putting up the coup for every1 to use! the guy @ best buy in burlington who helped me searched the whole state until he found stores that had them, which @ the time was gastonia (2) and asheville (1) he said not to go to asheville as the 1 they had might be a display and that gastonia would be more safe. He also called to confirm it was there and to get it put aside as i was going to pay @ his store and pick up in gast. Dvx rocks!

Will Best Buy let you cancel a pre-order at their store if they have a camera in stock?

You can return it in store according to the online rep I spoke to on the phone.
They already processed my order and I just picked one up at a local Best Buy. Come sometime this week, I'll have two 7D's!

Found several in Texas. Just drove up to Temple, TX to buy the body+kit lens. They had another one in stock.
Here's the kicker, my body only pre-order was $1840 after tax. With the 10% coupon, I got the 7D kit in store for $1850! Basically got the lens for $10 more.

they may try to tell you it doesn't work (the guy this morning knew what was at stake), but tell them to try anyway. It'll work like a dream.
Edit: Another interesting tid-bit...not sure if it's new info...the salesman said the body only was limited to BestBuy.com orders...won't be available in stores (at least yet).

Looks like the kit is available at the BB in Bee Caves, Texas. If you're in Austin and want one, try out that way.

And call ahead...the store in Temple had no problem holding it for me. Unfortunately I wasn't in Austin this weekend and the Waco store had none in stock. Oh well ... an hour-long round trip later, I've got one in hand

Purchased the package today at Best Buy in Watertown, Ma
They just did an inventory search at my Best Buy near work (inner 290 area) and it showed nobody in the Houston area has it in stock.

How long is BB taking on average to get them in stock? ...Says they are backordered currently. Really want to take advantage of that 10% coupon!

Finally cancelled my pre-order with Amazon. I got sick of sitting around with no information from them and no idea when I would actually get a camera. I ordered less than an hour after the 7D was announced on August 31st and in roughly 6 weeks had nothing to show for it.
Good news is I went to my local Best Buy on Sunday. They were sold out in store of course. I found a great CSR and she did a search for me and found a kit available in the warehouse. She got me free overnight shipping and with the 10% off coupon I actually got it for $50 less than Amazon...and that's even factoring in the sales tax! I am also getting a $25 gift card as part of the rewards program. I got my shipping notification this morning and should have my camera tomorrow.
As a tip to others, it pays to go to the store. The website always says backorded but in the store they can go in to the system and get real time info on availability and shipping. It also pays to get a knowledgeable sales person who knows where to look. Best Buy is putting on seasonal help and the new guys don't always know the inventory system very well. Be persistent. Good luck!
