Well, two things -- one, the battery's charging, and two, the GH1 hasn't shown up yet. And 3, I have a magazine review to do first on another product, and 4 ... eh, I'm running out of excuses, aren't I? :)

But fortunately for me I had the prescience to order a Nikon and M42 lens adapter ahead of time, plus step-up rings for the Fader ND, plus TigerDirect screwed me around long enough that I was able to ditch their body-only order and get the kit package so I've got the sweet 18-135, so... all in all, it's gonna work out just fine. :thumbsup:

Hello everyone, this is a great thread! It seems like only the local shops are carrying the 7D's and was wondering if anyone had any luck in the New York area. I'd even go to a little shop in Jersey or upstate New York if it meant I could get my hands on a 7D within the week. Body or Kit, I'll take what I can get!

Thanks for listing the coupon! After about 2 weeks of calling every Best Buy in my area, I finally found a 7D at a store an hour away. That saved me a good amount of money.

The store only had 2 in stock. When I was at the counter purchasing, I noticed the guy beside me was buying the other one. When I mentioned I was from Durham, he recognized me from a 7D thread on DVXUSER. Small world...

Thanks to this Forum, I have been able to decide on getting a 7D. Since I'm busy in Kabul, Afghanistan right now, with the UN Election Watch Dog finalising the results of the Elections. A friend of mine is on the look out in the US to bring me back a 7D, canon 50 mm f1.8(metal one) and the 28-135 mm lense. I'm a complete newbie to still and video, apart from having taken digital pictures for electoral fraud...this is a hobby I have always wanted to start. Thanks to all of you, I think I'm going to really enjoy my 7D. Since I've already passed on $2500 to my buddy on a weeks vacation to the US, I hope he gets his hands on one.

I've been following the whole 7D and 5D thing for a few months now and it seems that everyone who's had success in using those online best buy coupons had to really convince the cashier to make it work. I have a buddy who works at Best Buy so I'll ask him about bringing the coupon in after the fact, but my sense is that it won't work unless you can really "talk the talk".

PS. do you know the name of the store in Peekskill where you got it? I'm actually headed upstate this Sunday. Maybe I can put one on hold and pick it up! Thanks!
 
Walked into Best Buy in Emeryville Ca Wednesday and bought my 7D (they had 2), came with the EF 28-135 kit lens.

PS. Anyone interested in swapping EF 28-135 for EF-S 18-135, if so PM me. I'm going to see if I can use the 10% moving coupon after the fact today.
 
Just updating those who unfortunately ordered from TD, i've also been told Oct 31st is when they'll receive their shipment, and Nov 2nd is when they'll be able to ship it out after logging em.

Just picked mine up from the Best Buy in Hawthorne. They have one more left in stock. The 10% moving coupon worked perfectly, and that took care of the ridiculous sales tax we have here in LA county....

The sales staff didn't even know about this camera, and it is not on display yet. But they went and grabbed one out of the back.

Evidently the branch in Torrance has 2 in stock as well.
