Thank you!! I was at the gym on the treadmill when I read this.. So I called my wife and told her to call the sanfran best buy and get it!! they were going to send to Virginia beach store for me to pick up.. After an hour on the phone with the 2 best buys found out they couldn't do it.... After selling the one I got from j&R and getting hosed by tiger...I was about to explode... and hour later best buy sanfran manager called my wife back and said she wanted us to have that camera and they would ship it to us from the store.....It will be here in a couple days....:happy:

Pre-ordered at 8AM 9/1/09...verified the order last week (at Amazon's request)...nothing at all from Amazon. I missed a few chances to order elsewhere by being away from my computer for most of the day but I'm beginning to feel a bit hosed in hanging tight with Amazon...seems they should have recieved their first shipment of kits by now.
 
Order a kit from ephotocraft.com yesterday, getting it tomorrow afternoon!

Funny that the random order I made yesterday will show up before the preorder I made with Adorama on 9/1!

I'm in the same boat (pre-ordered at 10:15pm PST on 8/31), but I don't think ANYONE has the 28-135mm kit yet, just the 18-135 that's been popping up in a few stores.

The conspiracy theorist in me is beginning to think that Canon releases body only first because their profit margin is higher (is it possible the price reduction on the bundled kit lens actually means they sell it at a loss?) So people get impatient and jump to a body order instead of waiting it out for the kit (I've certainly been considering doing that).

Helen from Adorama mentioned that in the past Canon shipments of a kit lens following a body happen within 2 weeks of the release, so I won't be that concerned until we hit mid-October, with part of me thinking that the 10/11 date that BestBuy has been showing is when the kit lenses will be shipping...
 
Yea...I'll hang patient I guess. It does feel a little like everybody has their camera but me. Is this a 7D or a GH1? :-)

Anyone know of any stores that have a similar return policy to Crutchfield with the 30 day guarantee and no restock fee? I'd like to get the GH1 and 7D and try them both since I cant decide on which one I want. I'll keep whichever one I like the best. Crutchfield only has the GH1 in stock and not the 7D.

woohoo! Picked my kit (with 18-135) up from ephotocraft.com today. I ordered online, but picked it up in person since their Burke store is right down the road from my house. Super nice people there. They said they have a shipment coming, and recommend you go to their 7D page and sign up for email notify..and then just be quick on the draw when you get the email. I can verify there website only shows realtime stock.. When I bought mine the page updated to show "Out of Stock" immediately..I got the last one I guess.
 
Spur of the moment, called up my local Best Buy last night around 8pm.

They had 2 in stock.

An hour later I walked out with my 7D and a 16GB FC. The best part was that the FC is the fastest card on the market and the guy working the camera department cut the price in half once he saw that I bought the camera. It ended up being cheaper than had I bought it online, waited for it to come, AND then mail in for the rebate all for the slower card!
 
I'm also picking mine up from Best Buy Hollywood after waiting forever for Samy's Pasadena to get them in stock. Since I only get store credit if I cancel the Samy's one, does anybody want to buy that kit from me when I do get it? For those who can patiently wait. I'll knock off some of the sales tax if so.

Or does anybody have recommendations of how to use $1600 store credit from the partial deposit I made for it? I would prefer it back but... *shrug*
